Auction Flex In The Cloud
Auction Flex in the Cloud is a great solution for certain types of customers. In our efforts to communicate certain benefits and limitations, we ask that you read the following guidelines.
1. Auction Flex in the Cloud should only be used by auctioneers with a specific use case for this service.
Typical use cases include:
- Auctioneers with multiple locations.
- Auctioneers conducting multiple auctions in different locations simultaneously.
- Auctioneers wishing to easily access Auction Flex from the office, at home, or on the road.
2. Auctioneers with an auction facility, and who only conduct auctions at that facility, don’t typically benefit from Auction Flex in the Cloud, so it is not recommended for them. For this scenario, using a service such as GoToMyPC is likely a better solution.
3. The faster the internet connection, the better the performance will be with Auction Flex in the Cloud.
4. A 3G cellular data connection is only good for a single computer. Attempting to share a 3G connection across multiple computers will result in slow performance.
5. A 4G cellular data connection is workable for up to four computers.
6. If the internet connection is lost during an auction, access to Auction Flex in the Cloud will also be lost. The cloud is dependent upon a solid, reliable internet connection.
7. Capturing customer images or lot images from a webcam is not available because webcam integration does not work through Auction Flex in the Cloud.
8. To clerk from a tablet computer, it is best to use an external keyboard. It is best for the clerk to practice clerking prior to the auction because the tablet interface is a little tricky.
9. A test of the complete setup using the exact auction setup before running a real auction should always be done to ensure that any issues are discovered beforehand. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Check the internet connection and speed at the auction site. (A 4G connection may not be available onsite.)
- Check to ensure that printing (bidcards, clerking sheets, invoices, etc.) works as expected.
10. Auction Flex can still be run directly on local computers by backing up the data from the Cloud and restoring it to the local primary (server) computer for the auction. After the auction a backup of the data can be made and put it back into the Cloud.
11. Auction Flex in the Cloud does not automatically sync with the local computer. Auction Flex data can only be in one place at a time and can only be modified in that one place where it resides (cloud or local).
